Joachim Adenusi MSc CFIRM MPhil
Joachim Adenusi is a consummate and forward-thinking enterprise leadership and strategic risk management professional who is passionate about helping organisations succeed through effective handling of threats and taking more opportunities. Joachim has a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, a postgraduate diploma in Actuarial Science at The Cass Business School, London and a Master’s in Risk Management from Glasgow Caledonia University, Scotland. He is a Chartered Insurer with The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), UK, he is a certified fellow, trainer and a former executive director of the Institute of Risk Management (IRM), the UK, with over 25 years of risk, governance, and strategic management experience, spanning financial services, public and health sectors, manufacturing, consulting and academia. He is the Founder/CEO of Conrad Clark Nig Ltd and Inspirational Risk Ltd (UK). He is a doctoral candidate at King’s College, London with a research interest in Risk, Crisis, and Leadership. He is an adjoint professor working at the following universities, Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, University of St. Thomas, Minnesota, USA, and Southampton University, UK. John Thirwell – FCIB
John is well-known internationally as a speaker and writer on operational risk and on risk management and governance. He has worked in financial services for over 30 years and for the last 15 has been on the boards of a number of banking and insurance companies as both an executive and non-executive director. He is co-author of mastering Operational Risk (Financial Times Prentice Hall, 2010).
He was a Director of the British Bankers’ Association, where he was heavily involved in negotiating the current operational risk regulatory framework for banks and founded and chaired the BBA’s Global Operational Loss Database.
He has been chairman of the UK Financial Services and Insurance Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce and has sat on advisory groups on risk and operational risk for the Bank of England, Financial Services Authority, Financial Services Skills Council, Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment and Lloyd’s Market Association.
He graduated from the University of Oxford and is a Fellow of the Institute of Operational Risk and of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.

Prof Thorsten Moenig
Thorsten Moenig is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Risk, Insurance, and Healthcare Management in the Fox School of Business at Temple University, and a co-director of the Actuarial Science Masters’ program. His main research concerns the impact of market frictions on variable annuities, a modern equity-linked personal investment and retirement savings vehicle.
In particular, he examines optimal policyholder behaviour and its implications for an efficient design of these product. His research has been published in the Journal of Risk and Insurance, the North American Actuarial Journal, and the Review of Finance, and was awarded the 2017 Redington Prize from the Society of Actuaries.
Moenig holds a Master’s degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Connecticut and a PhD in Risk Management and Insurance from Georgia State University. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA). He enjoys teaching and is the proud recipient of the 2017/18 Outstanding Teacher Award by the Sigma chapter of Gamma Iota Sigma

Prof Peter Young – PhD
Peter C. Young holds the 3M Endowed Chair in International Business at the Opus College of Business—University of St. Thomas. From 1994-2011 he held the E. W. Blanch, Senior Chair in Risk Management in the Opus College of Business.
He also serves as the principal advisor to (and co-creator of) the University of St. Thomas actuarial science program, which in 2011 received recognition as a Centre for Actuarial Excellence.
Professor Young has written extensively on the subject of risk management and is recognized internationally for his work in both the public and private sectors.

Tunde Alabi
Tunde has 25 years of strategic management, business transformation, and organisation change experience across financial services, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, public sector, marketing communications and consulting; in Europe and Africa.
His ability to provide transformation leadership, strategy-aligned transition, and organisational impact to change initiatives, is underpinned by his facilitative and discovery learning approach to stakeholder buy-in.
As well as being qualified in change management and business policy, he is a certified Agile Facilitator, Programme Manager, Train-the-Trainer and Advertising Practitioner
Chris Smerald FIA
Chris Smerald is a general insurance actuary with a passion for solving risk and insurance problems in a way that empowers his clients. He does this through rich experience coupled with careful listening, systems thinking and a collaborative style. His experience and capabilities come from a mixture of international practice and research in the areas of reserving, pricing, business intelligence and risk.
He worked at AIG for 30+ years when he engaged with most lines, world regions, actuarial specialisms, and scales of the problem in dynamically changing environments and helped extend actuarial practice into new areas.
More recently he has been consulting to smaller insureds in the areas of reserving, analytics, Solvency II and IFRS 17 readiness. His research engagement includes thought leadership within numerous actuarial and scientific bodies and original research into problem-solving and effective communication.
