He is an Assistant Professor of actuarial science at Temple University in Philadelphia. His current research focuses on the drivers of policyholder behavior in variable annuities with long-term guarantees.
He is broadly interested in topics across actuarial science, insurance economics, applied game theory, and behavioural economics. Thorsten has PhD in Risk Management & Insurance from Georgia State University, prior to that he studied Econo-Mathematics at the University of Karlsruhe (now KIT), Germany, and earned a M.S. degree in Mathematics (Actuarial Science Concentration) from the University of Connecticut.
He is a German native and enjoys traveling, good food, football (“soccer”), tennis, badminton, and salsa dancing.
